| I was at the Royal Court and she
was just incredible. Great versions of old songs, a brilliant rapport with
the crowd...There's no doubt that she was surprised and delighted by how
much the audience loved her and just wanted to hear every song she knew.
After we cheered her back on for her third encore, she said "You
gotta stop encouraging me. I could just stand here and play all
night" to which the crowd cheered loudly, hoping and almost believing
she meant it! When she forgot the chords to "I Wish I Never Saw The
Sun" she stopped and apologized, had a laugh with the crowd and
started again. She was just amazing. I want to go to every date on the
tour!! But I'm not sure they would be as good as last night again. It was
one of those gigs you are lucky enough to go sometimes where the crowd and
the artist are just having a great time together, neither want it to stop,
both are surprised how good it actually is and there's just a magic about
it. Beth didn't want to stop, you could tell, and when she actually did
finish her last song, she skipped off the stage with a mournful look over
her shoulder like a little girl who wanted to stay out playing with her
friends, but couldn't because her mum had called her in for dinner. I
think she only stopped because she was told to by someone off-stage. Oh,
and I should mention that the band were great too! |
